• You can expect a reply within 3 days. Included you will find Dr. Priti’s plan for surgery and expected cost. Please go through the relevant sections of the website to familiarize yourself with the procedure(s), period of rest, FAQ’s, and other tips. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to request clarification over email.
• You will also find a questionnaire regarding your medical history in the reply email. To avoid any problems or complications at the time of surgery, please answer any and all questions with utmost honesty and precision. You may also be given a list of blood investigations to be completed. Please Email back the questionnaire and reports if required.
• If you have any existing medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hypothyroidism, psychiatric or other illnesses, please have it assessed and controlled prior to fixing your appointment for surgery.
• Please send a complete list of any medications or supplements you may be taking. Dr. Priti will advise you on whether to continue or to stop taking them. Pain killers, blood thinners such as aspirin, and oral contraceptives should be stopped at least 2 weeks prior to surgery. Please also consult your physician before stopping these medications. For contraceptives, start using some other form of contraception. Also, for women, please discuss with Dr. Priti your menstrual health, and make sure you are not pregnant.
• After consulting with Dr. Priti, in person or through email, the surgery date can be fixed for within 2 weeks, while the paperwork and tests are still being completed. This allows for extra time to schedule an operating room, finding accommodations, and overall allowing for an exceptional experience to the patient.
• Discuss with Dr. Priti when you will be arriving in Hyderabad. For minor surgeries under general anaesthesia, arriving a few hours before surgery is sufficient. For surgeries under general anaesthesia, you will need to meet with Dr. Priti one day before the scheduled surgery.
• For most major surgeries, 1-2 weeks of rest in Hyderabad is required. This ensures you will get adequate rest and any complications that may arise can be taken care of.
• For your stay in Hyderabad, there are many great hotel accommodations around the hospital. If payment is sent in advance, a hotel room can be booked and ready for you on your arrival. Hospital accommodations are also quite good, and that is an alternative option to a hotel if wanted. Your hospital stay can be for as long as needed.
• On the day of surgery you should arrive at the hospital 2 hours before your scheduled surgery. If the surgery is a daycare procedure (outpatient procedure) under local anaesthesia, you can leave within 2 hours of completion of surgery after observation. If it is a daycare procedure under general anaesthesia, the patient can leave within 6 hours of completion of surgery. If you are staying with friends or relatives, please arrange for them to accompany you back home.
• As a suggestion, if you are coming to the surgery alone and have considered staying in a hotel, Dr. Priti would advise that you stay in the hospital for at least 24 hours. If you choose to do so, you can continue to stay in the hospital for as long as you desire.
